Digital dentistry at High Street Dental Care

A Step Forward in Digital Dentistry

For the past year, we have been using the Medit i900 intraoral scanner to take detailed digital scans of teeth and send them electronically to the laboratory, helping many patients avoid traditional tray impressions.

Comfortable digital scanning instead of bulky impressions

Traditional dental impressions usually involve a tray filled with impression material being placed in the mouth while the material sets. Although this method is still useful in some situations, it can feel bulky and uncomfortable, especially for patients who have a sensitive gag reflex or simply dislike the feeling of impression trays and materials.

The Medit i900 allows us to take a detailed digital scan of the teeth using a small handheld scanner. The scan appears on screen as a three-dimensional image, helping us check the details carefully and, where needed, rescan a small area straight away rather than repeating a full impression.

Why it matters

This digital workflow supports the move towards faster, more accurate communication with the dental laboratory. Instead of posting a physical impression, the digital scan can be sent electronically to help streamline the design and manufacture of restorations or appliances.

More comfortable

A helpful option for many patients who find traditional impression trays difficult, especially those with a sensitive gag reflex.

Faster workflow

Digital scans can be sent electronically to the laboratory, reducing reliance on postal transfer of physical impressions.

Clear digital detail

The three-dimensional scan gives the team a detailed visual record that can support treatment planning and laboratory communication.
