After 18 months of working back at High Street Dental Care, our Hygiene Therapist, Holly Plummer has decided to move onto new ventures, taking her career in a new direction. It was lovely to have Holly working with the High Street Dental Care team again and support her in her first year as a Hygiene Therapist. Although we will miss her, we would like to wish her every success in her new career.

We are adding a new surgery onto the back of the practice behind reception, so we will have 2 downstairs surgeries, making visiting the practice more accessible for those patients that are unable to climb the stairs. Since 2004 Bridge2Aid has provided training which has given access to safe emergency dental care for over 5 million people in Tanzania. This is accomplished through sending volunteers from the UK dental community to train rural health workers. In February 2019 I will be joining the next Bridge2Aid dental team making our way to the deprived areas of Tanzania hoping to treat as many patients as I can and train the local officers in emergency dental care. Since September 2017 High Street Dental Care has been working towards becoming a Dental Foundation Training (DFT) practice. This means we can mentor a newly qualified dentist, who’s next step is to spend a year working in general practice. Only experienced dental practitioner’s who have the ability to teach and help new dentists are appointed as trainers. We are pleased to announce that Gemma one of our dental nurse’s gave birth to a baby girl in January named Georgia. Gemma, her husband and big brother Noah are all besotted with their new arrival. We look forward to her return to work in November.

After 26 years of owning the practice Mr Rushworth took the decision to retire in December 2017, leaving the practice and staff in the capable hands of Sotirios. Mr Rushworth is currently enjoying spending time with his family, riding his bike and visiting places on his wish list.
